Lane football uses spring practice to try out new offensive scheme

JACKSON, Tenn — After three weeks of strapping on their helmets, the Lane Dragons are wrapping up their spring practice with their annual spring game Saturday.

Lane Spring GameOne of the biggest adjustments the Dragons have been making over the past several weeks was installing their new offense: a downhill run heavy scheme that could keep the players and fans excited.

The Dragons’ new offensive coordinator, Shephard Skanes said while teaching a new offense may be a learning process, it’s the players who will make the difference at the end of the day.

“In order to get something you ain’t ever had before, you got to do something you ain’t ever did before,” Coach Skanes explained. “What we are doing over here we basically just telling the guys, hey listen, this offense is universal. We teach the terminology first and then the skill sets of what they have already here sets in and the sky’s the limit.”

Lane’s spring game will start Saturday afternoon at 1:00 at Lane Field.
