Generals drop series finale vs Shuckers
JACKSON, Tenn — Seattle Mariners’ relievers Tony Zych and Evan Scribner pitched well on rehab assignment with the Jackson Generals, but the Generals dropped the series finale to the Biloxi Shuckers 8-3.
Zych and Scribner were the first Mariners to rehab with Jackson since Shawn Kelley back in 2011.
Jackson (30-19, 76-43) got on the board first in the bottom of the second. With one out, Adam Law hit a solo blast to left, the first over the wall homer of his career. Law hit the first home run of his career with the Generals in his West Tennessee debut on July 3rd, but it was an inside-the-park home run.
After Law’s blast made it 1-0, Brock Hebert drew a walk. Two batters later, Ian Miller hit an RBI triple to right center to score Hebert and make it 2-0.
In the 5th, the Shuckers scored five runs on six hits (all singles) and a walk to take an 8-2 lead at the stretch.
Jackson has Tuesday off before the first game of a five-game series and road trip against the Birmingham Barons.
Tyler Herb (1-2, 4.32) is slated to start for the Generals while Jordan Guerrero (7-7, 4.63) is scheduled to pitch for the Barons.
