Man charged with trying to strangle woman with belt
JACKSON, Tenn. — A man faces an assault charge after reportedly trying to strangle a female family member with a belt.
Brandon Dobbins is accused of putting a belt around the woman’s neck during an argument about money, according to court papers.
The incident reportedly happened around 11:30 a.m. April 10.
The woman told police Dobbins kept saying “I’m sorry I have to kill you,” according to an affidavit.
When she was able to get the belt loose, she said Dobbins then strangled her with his arm.
She told officers she lost consciousness and woke up as police were knocking at the door.
She told them the argument started over money.
Dobbins is charged with aggravated domestic assault.
