Professional Experience:
-I was an Editor/Photographer at WATE-6
News in Knoxville
for two years before
accepting my first on-air job at 7 Eyewitness
News in August of 2006.
News Philosophy:
-I like taking big issues, and breaking them
down to the
local level. Decisions made by
legislators in D.C. and Nashville make an
impact in our daily lives, we just need to look
close enough.
Education:
-Bachelor of Science in Communications from University of
Tennessee.
Graduated May 2005.
Place of Birth:
-Nashville, TN
Hobbies/Interests/Community Involvement:
-I'm a huge sports fan, and even though it's tough this
year the Titans
are still my team. I love college football and I'll
always stand by my UT
Vols. Other interests are simply spending time with my
family. My
brother's family lives in Memphis, as well as my in-laws, and
my
parents live in Nashville. Nothing is better than
having time with them.
Family:
-My wife, Heather and I have been married since Oct. 6,
2006.
Pets:
-I have a two year old Cocker Spaniel named Tanner.
Favorite Web Sites:
-My old trusties are espn.com and foxnews.com
Favorite Books and Movies:
-The Lance Armstrong bio "It's Not About the Bike" by
Sally Jenkins. Ghost Wars
by Steve Coll.
-I have too many favorite movies, but here's a sampling:
Gladiator, Shawshank
Redemption, Team America, World Police.
Likes Best about TN:
-It's been a great home for me. I grew up in
Nashville, met my wife in
Knoxville, went to school in Chattanooga, lived in Memphis,
and now I
work in Jackson. The people here are so hospitable, and
no matter
where I have lived I feel right at home.
Most Interesting Assignment:
-So far, the most compelling story I have worked on is
the proposed
annexation of a part of Northwest Madison County. Both
sides are
passionate about their arguments: the opposed residents feel
they
don't need Jackson's assistance, and that the annex would be
a waste
of city resources. While the city sees it as the best
way to promote
growth in Jackson, and to help the Hub City in the long term.
Favorite Quote:
-You can't soar with the eagles in the mornin', if you're
hootin' with the
owls at night. Baseball is the only endeavor where a
man can succeed
three times out of ten and be considered a good performer.
