Reggie Walker

Professional Experience:
    -M.I.A.A prep sportscaster
    (Memphis,TN), play-by-play
    commentator for WLJT-TV
    (Martin,TN), floor director/camera
    operator/sports anchor for WBBJ-TV,
    Jackson, TN

News Philosophy:

-I believe my obligation as
a sportscaster is to inform as well
as entertain. No one wants to watch
boring sports...so I think it's my job to make water polo just as exciting as the Super Bowl.

Education:
-Watkins Overton High School for the Creative and Performing Arts
(Memphis,TN); University of Tennessee at Martin (Martin,TN)

Place of Birth:
-Memphis, TN...home of the blues, baby!

Hobbies/Interests/Community Involvement:
-I enjoy spending time with my 3 year old son, whenever I have a
break in my schedule, I also play Tiger Woods golf on my PS2. I love
playing baseball, basketball, and flag football. My favorite team is the
Chicago Cubs and watching them ranks right behind spending time
with my son and reading the Word. I also like talking to youth and
letting them know achieving your dreams are possible...I'm living
proof of that.

Family:
-My mother Brenda; sisters: Breonnah, Jasmin and Von; brothers:
Melvin and Tarrick; Aunt Nita; Antwaun; Great-grand father:
Carruthers; Father: Reggie Sr. and Step father: Melvin Sr.......(R.I.P.)
Grandma & Erma...always in my heart.

Favorite Web Sites:
-MySpace.com and Cubs.com, I'm not a real big Internet guy.

Favorite Books and Movies:
-Where do I start...every single one of the Rocky movies, Field of
Dreams, Major League I&II, Coming to America, The Friday franchise,
Police Academy 1-6, Ocean's 11&12, Color Purple, Lean on Me (note:
Morgan Freeman should have more Oscars), Forrest Gump....there
are many more, but I should probably just stop here...oh yeah, A Few
Good Men. As far as books go, I'm really getting into this one called
the Bible...I recommend it to all.

Likes Best about TN:
-Since I was born, raised, and received all my education here there
isn't to much I don't LOVE about the place. But if I had to choose
one thing it's the growth in sports culture that's taken place over the
last 10 years...from the Titans to the Grizzlies, to the Predators, I
always knew TN had what it took to be a sports power.

Most Interesting Assignment:
-
Covering a 47 year old kickboxer from Tennessee...who was trying
to get in the Guinness book of World Records as the oldest male to
hold a combative championship. During my stand up I had the bright
idea to let him kick me in the chest... let's just say, I'll never have
that idea again.

Favorite Quote:
-"Second place is the first loser, so always strive to be #1" and if
that's too extreme, another motto I go by is, the 5 P's..."Prior
Preparation Prevents Poor Performance" always be ready to go into
the spotlight at a moments notice.
