Wanted: Joe Marvin Ellison
Jackson police need your help in
finding thirty-seven year old Joe Marvin Ellison.
Police say they have a warrant out for his arrest for
the assault, robbery and rape of a seventy-five year old
woman who lives on the 300 block of Greenwood Avenue in
Jackson.
Police say they responded to the
victim's house about 9:45 P.M. Wednesday night.
"This incident really makes me
realize what can go on and does go on and you can never
be too careful," says nearby neighbor Regina Schuteze.
Jackson police say the elderly victim
has seen Ellison before in her neighborhood. But on
Wednesday night she would find him in her home. The
woman says she heard a noise, saw Ellison and that's
when he asked her for money. However when she said no,
that's when he choked, raped and robbed her.
Schuteze says at 9:00 P.M. that
night, a black man fitting the description of Ellison
approached her father and asked for help.
"He was rather nervous, he was asking
for help, but his vehicle seemed to be operating ok...it
was running in our parking space here...We're not sure
what he wanted, he didn't say exactly what he needed
so...he just seemed to be rather anxious and nervous,"
Schuteze exclaimed.
Neighbor Gregory Perry Senior says
the area is rather quiet and everyone looks after one
another. But he also says, "You know I hate to say it's
not surprising, but you never know...but you just don't
think it would happen so close to home in this
area...It's really sad, my heart goes out to her."
