Two Accused in Shooting Appear in Court

Two men
who investigators believe were involved
in a fatal weekend shooting in Gibson
County head to court.

Reed,19 of Milan and Zachary Ward, 19 of
Dyer appeared in General Sessions court
in Trenton, Tuesday morning. Reed who
was charged with second degree murder
and reckless endangerment had his bond
set at $100,000. Ward, what was charged
with accessory after the fact had his
bond set at $30,000. Both men will
return to court December 9.
According
to investigators, Joseph Burnette died
early Sunday morning from a gunshot
wound to the chest. The sheriff said
the shooting occurred in the backyard of
a home on Humboldt-Gibson Wells Road.
Investigators said Reed reportedly
pulled a revolver from his jacket pocket
and shot Burnette after the two began to
argue, while Ward and another man were
fighting. Reed and Ward then fled the
scene, but later surrendered to
authorities.
