Two men that Jackson
police said were involved in an October 5 shooting at a
car wash in the eastern part of the city appeared for
their preliminary hearings, Thursday.
After the victim recanted his identification of Travarious White, 21, of Jackson, as the shooter, an attempted murder charge was dropped. White is still charged with criminal trespassing, vandalism, criminal impersonation, theft of property and evading arrest. After hearing testimony, White's case was sent to the grand jury. With the dropped charge, his bond was lowered from $150,000 to $50,000.

Jonathon Dancer, 21, of
Jackson, is charged with filing a false report. Dancer
waived his rights to a preliminary hearing allowing the judge
to send his case to the grand jury. Investigators said
there is no evidence that Dancer was involved in the
shooting. Police said
Dancer first denied knowing anything about the shooting,
but eventually admitted to driving White to
the car wash. Police said White ran from them as they
questioned him about the car wash shooting.
Investigators believe
White targeted the same man who was shot at in a parking
lot of the Hamilton Hills Shopping Center on October 4.
That shooting left a woman injured.
