Halloween is Saturday and many
people are doing last minute shopping for costumes, but is
the economy causing some fans to cut back. For Party
Headquarters owner Russell Rast, this year's Halloween
economy is anything but a scary situation. "Halloween is
always the type that people are going to come out and spend
the money regardless of the economy. They might not spend as
much, but they are still going to spend on a costume," said
Rast.
In fact, Rast said the higher
priced costumes are the ones that left the shelves first.
"Your lower priced ones will sell Friday and Saturday. The
weeks leading up to this have been your higher priced ones,"
said Rast.
Some costume shoppers said they
do not have much of a budget when it comes to buying the
perfect outfit. "To a limit. There's always a limit, but it
[Halloween] only comes around once a year and we're gonna
have fun, and get to pretend you're somebody else for a
day," said Crystal Rivera, who is from Camden.
Others who are on a fixed budget
said they would rather spend their money on something else.
"With me being a college student, I don't have that money to
spend on a costume, so I figured just be creative and come
up with something fun and exciting," said Chelsea Crook, who
is a student at Union.
Which costume is the biggest
request this year? Rast said Michael Jackson is number one.
