A Jackson manufacturing plant has announced it will shut its doors unless it can find a buyer in the next month.

Employees with Intermet received memos, informing them permanent layoffs will begin in December.   According to Huron Consulting Services, Intermet, which is currently in bankruptcy proceedings, is working to find a buyer for the west Jackson plant, but if one is not found the plant will close. One person we spoke with said nearly 60 people work at Intermet.

The plant makes cast metal components for automotive and commercial vehicles for manufacturers around the world.
