Five Milan city
employees have been laid off as the mayor said he is
working to get spending under control.
According to Mayor
Chris Crider, two police department and three public
works employees were let go, Friday. He said he is
working to cut expenses and raise revenue and plans
to work with the board of aldermen on health
insurance costs. He cites the sluggish economy as
the reason for the city's budget troubles.
