A tribute is being planned for Ret. Master Sergeant Troy Gary Mitchell. The tribute will be in the form of the citizens of our area lining up along the funeral procession route Wednesday, November 4 at 12:30 p.m.

The procession from George A. Smith & Sons Funeral Directors (North Chapel), located at 2812 North Highland Avenue will follow Highland Ave. south to Englewood Baptist Church at 2239 North Highland Ave. in Jackson. The hearse carrying the body of Master Sgt. Troy Mitchell will be arriving at the church around 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday in time for the funeral scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. This means the hearse should be leaving the funeral home between 12:30 p.m. and 12:40 p.m.

People participating are asked to bring American flags to wave as the procession passes by on the way to the church. Anyone wanting to participate in this tribute to a real American hero should be along the procession route in place by 12:30 p.m. or shortly before.
