A Madison County grand jury will
hear the case of a Jackson mother, accused of trying to
suffocate her daughter, last month.
Theresa Brasfield, 37 was
charged with attempted aggravated child abuse and
contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Brasfield's
11-year-old daughter took the stand, Thursday and told the
judge that Brasfield sent her five-year-old sister to her
room ,because she almost knocked over some food. She said he
mother then told her to put a pillow over the girl's face.
When she refused, she said Brasfield then momentarily
smothered the girl herself.
All three of Brasfield's daughters are in state custody. She remains behind bars in lieu of $50,000 bond.
