Jackson police raided two
West Jackson homes Friday morning in connection with
Troy Mitchell's homicide. One woman, who owns one of the
houses did not understand why. "I ain't got nothin' to do
with it and my house is tore up like this," she said.
Police served a search
warrant on her home in the 12 hundred block of Hollywood
Drive. "They said they found dude's cell phone in your
house mom," said an unidentified man at the house. "They
didn't find nothin' in my house," replied the homeowner.
Jackson police along with
ATF and FBI agents also served a warrant on a house in
the 11 hundred block of Hollywood. Investigators were
seen taking weapons, including rifles and shotguns, as
well as brown paper bags from the home. "I did see one
police car, but I had no idea about the situation and I
just thought it was family members getting together. I
had no idea that there were any problems over there at
all," said Cynthia Pipkin, who lives across the street
from where the incident happened.
Those who live near the home
in the 12 hundred block said they were not surprised to
see officers. James Byrum said he called police on two
men who lived there this past May. "I had them up in my
backyard and they were going around in these other
folks' back yards looking real suspicious and I had to
call the police," said Byrum.
Officers said these two
raids were in support of Mitchell's homicide, and
neighbors hope it leads to an arrest. "I hope they get
whoever shot him [Mitchell]. If it's over there [house
on 1200 block] then I hope they get them. Somebody who
goes to work and gets shot trying to do their job is
awful," said Byrum.
