By: Keli McAlister

A total of ten Tennesseans have now been sickened by the same strain of salmonella that has caused a nationwide outbreak.

According to the Tennessee Department of Health, the latest case involved a person who lives in Knox County.  That person has now recovered.

In all, people in eight Tennessee counties have been affected.

Although initially linked to tomatoes, federal health officials announced Wednesday that the salmonella strain has been found in irrigation water and in a batch of serrano peppers at a Mexican farm.

The Center for Disease Control says the outbreak has affected more than 1,300 people in 43 states, the District of Columbia and Canada.
