Diamond Jaxx Break
Losing Streak, Beat Smokies
After seven straight losing
efforts, the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx turned things
around with a 10-4 win at Smokies Park.
The game was started for the Jaxx by converted reliever
Brodie Downs. Downs went pitched for five innings
giving up four runs with three being earned on five hits
and five strike outs.
The Jaxx bats lit up tonight. Johan Limonta got a
double in the first scoring Marshall Hubbard.
Then, in the fourth, singles by Limonta and Mike Wilson
along with a double from catcher Adam Moore contributed
to a four run inning that brought the score to 3-4.
Then in the top of the sixth, the Jaxx took the lead and
pulled away. Doubles by Greg Halman and Limonta
were part of the five hit, six run inning. That
brought the score to 10-4
The Jaxx bullpen closed things down for the Smokies.
Nelson Payano pitched three scoreless innings giving up
only two hits. Then Nick Hill took over in the 9th
finishing the game and giving up only one hit.
West Tenn will finish their series against the Smokies
Saturday night in Kodak, TN. First pitch is
scheduled for 6:15 p.m.
