Diamond Jaxx Make
it Two in a Row, Beat Smokies
The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx
pitching corps held the Tennessee Smokies to only two
runs to lead the Jaxx to a 10-2 win.
Denny Stark started the game off putting the first three
Smokies to the plate down in order. Stark left
after the first, making way for Ryan Ketchner to pitch
five shutout innings.
Meanwhile, the Jaxx offense was making sure that their
pitchers' work would not be in vain. A double by
Jeff Dominguez in the second brought in three runs.
Mike Wilson contributed with a double in the third
scoring Greg Halman. Wilson would later score as
well.
The big inning for the Jaxx bats
would be the fifth. Johan Limonta led things off
with a home run, his sixth of the season. That was
followed by four straight singles by Wilson, Jon Nelson,
Erick Monzon, and Jose Yepez. The Jaxx batted all
the way around and ended up with five runs in the
inning.
From there, the Jaxx bullpen took over. Jason
Mackintosh threw a shutout seventh inning. Marwin
Vega came in for the eighth giving up two runs.
Then, Austin Peay graduate Shawn Kelley put the last
three Smokies down in order in the ninth.
The Jaxx will take off four days for the All-Star Break.
They return to Pringles Park Wednesday, July 16th for a
five game home stand against the Jacksonville Suns.
First pitch on Wednesday is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT.
