Reints Resigns as Lambuth's Women's Basketball Coach

(Press Release) - After three successful years as the head coach of Lambuth University’s women’s basketball program, Joe Reints is leaving the school.

Reints
resigned Tuesday to take a job in his home state of South Dakota. He will be the head coach of Dakota State University in Madison, S.D. It is a NAIA Division II school.

Reints
was 69-33 during his three-year tenure at Lambuth. During his second season at Lambuth, he led the Lady Eagles to a 27-9 finish and a first ever NAIA National Championship. For his role in the team’s success, Reints was named the 2007 NAIA Women’s Basketball DI Coach of the Year.

Reints said the decision was one of the toughest he has ever made. “My years at Lambuth have been magical. The relationships with the players and fans made it tough to leave. I thank everyone for the support and I will always be a huge fan of Lambuth University. The opportunity there was a blessing for me and I will always be grateful. I wish the very best for Lambuth.

Reints added, “ This is an opportunity to move closer to home. I could not pass up the chance to be near my family. They will be only 75 miles away.”

Lambuth’s Director of Athletics, Ken Brown commented, “ We are sad to see Joe leave. He has done a great job, bringing the program back, to not only compete for a national title but also winning it. We wish him the very best.

Brown added, “ The search for a new coach will begin immediately.”

Lambuth
President, Dr. R. Fred Zuker, commented on the Reints resignation. “ We appreciate all Coach Reints has done to build the Lambuth women’s basketball program. Through Joe’s efforts he has brought our program to national prominence. Coach Reints’ success will help us as we continue our quest for membership in the NCAA. We wish Joe and his family all the best.”
