The Lambuth Eagles continued their perfect season on Saturday with a 58-40 win over NCAA Division II West Alabama.

West Alabama is a member of the Gulf South Conference, which Lambuth will join once the school's move to Division II is complete.

The Eagles scored on their first five possessions of the game and ran out to a 34-3 lead at halftime. Third quarter turnovers let the Tigers back in it, getting as close as 44-33. But Lambuth held on for the upset win.

Sophomore quarterback Adam Wiese finished with 344 yards through the air on 30/43 passing for three touchdowns, giving him 15 on the season. Receivers Jesse Ferrell, Roderick Jefferson and E.J. Adams all had over 50 yards receiving, and Adams, Jefferson and Brandon Okechukwu had touchdown catches.

Jamie Payton led the defense with 13 tackles, and Dominique Bowman recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown.

The Eagles went into Saturday's contest ranked seventh in the country.

They are back home on Saturday, Oct. 10, taking on Shorter College.
