Even with the losses of top
offensive weapons from last
season, Henry County
continues to roll along with
a 7-0 record and the number
one spot in the
Tennessee Class 5A rankings
of high school
football, according to the
Associated Press.
Also cracking the top ten
are the Tigers of Hardin
County. The Tigers are
ranked number five with a
6-0 record. They were the
only team, other than the
Patriots, to receive a first
place vote.
In 4A, Crockett County
remained unbeaten at 6-0 and
are number two in the ranks.
The Liberty Crusaders have
only one loss and that was
to number one Henry County.
Liberty (5-1) is currently
number four in the rankings.
Dyersburg and head
coach Bart Stowe find
themselves at number four
with a record of 4-2.
The Milan Bulldogs are
ranked number two in Class
3A with a 7-0 mark after
dismantling Ripley. Camden,
right on the heels of the
Bulldogs with a matching 7-0
record, are ranked number
four.
In 2A,the McKenzie Rebels
are ranked number three with
one loss this year under
head coach Wayne Comer. The
Adamsville Cardinals are
right behind the Rebels at
number four with an
untainted 7-0 record.
The highest 1A rank goes to
the Huntingdon Mustangs who
are number five with a 5-2
record. The Lake County
Falcons are at number seven,
while the Tornadoes of Union
City come in at number eight
with a 4-2 record.
In Division II there were no
west Tennessee teams in the
top ten. But the USJ Bruins
just missed out, coming in
at number eleven.
