One word
describes
the Hardin
County
Tigers.
Defense.
After a
21-12 win on
Sept. 4, the
Tigers did
not give up
another
point until
Oct. 2, week
six. After a
26-8 win
last week
over
Adamsville,
Hardin
County
improved
their record
to 7-0, good
enough for
third place
in playoff
class 5A.
"It's been a
big emphasis
for us in
the
off-season,"
said head
coach
William
McAdams.
"It's been
something
we've worked
hard trying
to get [to]
happen, and
now it is."
For the
players,
they try not
to
over-complicate
things,
keeping
their focus
simple.
"Really,
just to
hit," said
senior
defensive
end Carter
Carroll.
"That's what
we build our
program
around."
"We don't
want them to
score," said
junior
middle
linebacker
Steven Rich.
"We don't
want them to
get any
yards. Just
shut them
down."
The defense
has taken
some of the
pressure off
of an
offense that
lost last
year's
starting
quarterback,
Will
Gilchrist,
to
graduation.
The Tigers
are
averaging
almost 32
points per
game over
their last
three
contests.
Hardin
County will
try to move
to 8-0 on
the year
this Friday,
when they
host
Brighton.
