The
Lambuth Eagle football team defeated
Cumberland 35-7, Saturday, to finish
the season 11-0, the first
undefeated season in school history.
Adam
Wiese completed nine of 15 passes
for 178 yards and two touchdowns,
one of which went to Roderick
Jefferson, who caught eight balls
for 138 yards.
Jefferson caught a touchdown pass in
every regular season game this
season.
Wiese
finished one touchdown pass shy of the school-record 30
set by Rashad Smith in 1999.
The
Eagles' reinstated win over Bethel
combined with the win Saturday moved
them up one spot in the final NAIA
poll, to sixth in the country.
Lambuth found out on Sunday who they
will play in the first round
of the NAIA playoffs, and the answer
is tenth-ranked University of the Cumberlands, a conference opponent
and the Mid-South East Division
champion. The two teams have met 12
times since 1993, with Lambuth
holding a 9-3 advantage in the
series.
The
game will be Nov. 21 at L.L.
Fonneville field, with kickoff
scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
